Create a custom order
Creating a unique size and style lampshade, has never been easier.
By letting us know exactly what you’re looking for, eg dimensions, fabrics etc, we are then able to either help customise an existing product or create something completely unique!
The image to the left is the perfect example,
We were able to work with our client to help size up what dimensions were needed to harmoniously match with this amazing, 1970’s German ceramic lava lamp, we were then able to source a gorgeous yellow floral cotton to complement our clients interior.
I think it’s safe to say that the completed extra tall cone lampshade looks fabulous! And our client was absolutely delighted with the results.
How do I know what size I need for my lamp?
Knowing what size shade will work on your lamp can be tricky,
In some cases, you may have an existing lampshade that you simply would like to replace,
And in some instances you may want to go for a completely new size or style.
We are here to help you figure that out, the links below will direct you to our blog posts regarding measuring up existing lampshades that you may want to replicate, and how to choose a lampshade, which will take you through styles of lampshades and sizing.
Now that you have a rough idea what type of lampshade / ceiling shade you may be looking for, below we take a more in depth look at what options are available
-
Shape
Working out what shape shade you would like is mostly down to personal preference, from traditional french drum style shades to retro extra tall cylinder shades.
You can find most of our style offerings in the drop down menu, or at the top of this page. If you would like to slightly change the dimensions then this is most certainly possible.
All styles include: Cylinders, Cones, French drums empires, Coolie empires, Circular drums, Ovals, Half wall lights, Squares & even Hexagonal. -
Size
Size can be based on a number of factors,
Firstly, fabric. If you would like a patterned fabric, we may be limited on how big we can make this, due to the direction of the print. This is not the case for plain fabrics, and can be made up to 80cm in diameter!
Secondly, what will work for you. When sizing up a shade for a lamp, or for a ceiling light, I always suggest to get a piece of cardboard & test out a couple of sizes, this helps get an idea of how the size will look in your space. -
Lining
We offer quite a few different linings, with our most popular being a white lining.
We offer double sided options, which consist of either a cotton interior or with a paper interior. Custom options on these are available, eg. If you have wallpaper in your room that you would like to feature on the interior of your lampshade, this is definitely something we can help with.
Metallic brushed lining options are also really popular, available in Gold, Silver and Copper. As well as embossed gold, silver, copper and champagne are also available. -
Fittings
As standard for all of our lampshades/ ceiling shades, we use an EU fitting with comes with a plastic UK adapter ring, this fitting sits roughly 4cm into the lampshade/ ceiling shade.
Duplex fittings are also available, these fittings are perfect for when you would like your shade to sit lower down on your lamp, and you can also turn your shade into a ceiling shade if you would like.
Harp fittings are also an option, commonly used for US fittings, and this attaches to the top of your lamp with a much smaller hole. -
Fringe and braid options
Add a fringe and braid to your lampshades,
Available in 50+ colours and multiple fringe lengths, this can add a whole new dimension to your lampshade/ ceiling shade.
Pair a fringe & braid to a plain fabric lampshade and it will absolutely transform the look of your shade!
-
Matching cushions?
We can also create cushions in matching fabrics,
Cushions can be a great accompaniment for lampshades, as subtle hints to an overall interior design.
These can be made from as small as 35cm up to large 55cm squared, and rectangular options are also available.Piped edging is also available in 15+ colours, whether you match this to the main cushion design or add a pop of colour wow factor.
Let’s talk about fabrics
Taking all of the above into account, we now need to figure out what fabric we would like on the exterior of the lampshade/ ceiling shade.
As mentioned above there can be a few factors that might limit your choice, eg. If you would like a 45cm diameter circular drum, in our Teal flowers velvet, no problem, any larger than this we run into a problem… Due to the pattern of this design, we are unable to make this any larger, this is because the width of the fabric is only so long, meaning that we would have to use the length… which would sadly mean the pattern would be on a 90 degree angle, and no one wants that.
Any plain fabric choice, or a fabric that has a non directional pattern, eg. A pattern that looks the same horizontal or vertical, can be used for larger shades. Pop us a message if you’re unsure.
Plain fabrics; by plain we mean a solid colour fabric, as most of our ‘plain’ fabrics are just as unique and standout as our patterned fabrics!
Available fabric types are cotton, ramie linen, velvet and we do also offer faux silks on request. These all work amazingly well when making lampshades, as well as each type giving a completely different atmosphere to a space.
With a wide range of colours to choose from in each of these fabric types, if you have a particular colour in mind that we don’t have on offer, then we would be more than happy to talk to you about our ‘unseen’ colour options, sourced exclusively for you.
Patterned fabrics; we are constantly sourcing new fabrics to release in a variety of different patterns and designs, ranging from tropical animal based designs to retro block colour prints.
If you are interested in any of our patterned fabrics for a custom size shade, and you’re not sure if the fabric will be wide enough for your custom size. The best thing to do would be to find the fabric you like, in our circular drum shades section, these will have the largest size diameter that that exact fabric is available in.
If you have a patterned fabric/ have found some online, and you’re not sure if it will be suitable, message us with the measurements/ a link to the fabric online and we will be able to let you know what the largest size possible will be.
For a non directional pattern, eg. our Zebra print cotton or our Blue wiggle cotton, these can be made any size, as patterns like these don’t have a set way up.
